We salute the members of our DREAM MAKER Society.

The view was spectacular on September 9th at The Sky Room on the 50th floor of the Vue.

Board members, Legacy Society, staff, and customers came together to celebrate InReach's Dream Maker Society. Now in its 2nd year, Dream Maker Society members have generously pledged at least $1,000 per year for each of 5 years.

Each member was presented with handmade piece of INREACH POTTERY. The pottery pieces are fully functional pieces of art for use in the home made by our customers.

The Dream Maker Society helps make these programs possible. We are tremendously grateful for their generous support!

Dedication Ceremony of Mother Teresa Villa Apartments

Giving Women and Men a Sense of Dignity, Respect and Independence

Under beautiful blue skies, Monsignor Mauricio West, Vicar General and Chancellor of the Diocese of Charlotte, welcomed families, friends, elected officials and community members to the dedication of Mother Teresa Villa. Bishop Peter Jugis, ceremonially, dedicated and blessed the building rooms after sharing words of love and inclusion.

The $2 million dollar project is an innovative housing project of the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte Housing Corporation and InReach. The complex allows 12 men and women with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live independently in their own home. As part of HUD's section 811 program, residents will pay 30% of their adjusted income for rent with the remainder subsidized by HUD.

Mother Teresa Villa, a model of collaboration, was possible because of the hard work of many groups and people involved in the project including:

Catholic Diocese of Charlotte Housing Corporation, HUD, Charlotte Housing Trust, North Carolina Finance Agency, Garanco Construction, Rowhouse Architects, Sarver Housing Group, the Steele Creek Community and many elected officials.

Reflected David Dougherty, InReach's Board Chair, "I really can't tell you how exciting it is to be part of this project. The groundwork was laid five years ago. We are very excited to partner with the Charlotte Catholic Dioceses to put this project together. We have 40 years of experience in managing housing for people with disabilities... We've never done a 12-plex before, and it is fantastic how it's all turned out!”

Elected officials on hand for the event included: Charlotte City Councilwomen Lawana Mayfield, Vi Lyles, and Patsy Kinsey, and County Commissioner Pat Cotham. Patsy Kinsey shared a quote from Mother Teresa: "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples”.

For questions about the application process and waiting list for housing opening at Mother Teresa Villa, please contact Kim Johnson at InReach (kjohnson@inreachnc.org).
